As a designer you need to understand aspect ratios dude! Nearly every monitor is 16:9 which means for every 16 horizontal pixels there are 9 vertical! Some Mac monitors are 16:10 and so are some laptops so there worth sometimes uploading in. Also there are 21:9 monitors so if your looking at a longer wallpaper go for something 21:9 like 2556X1080 and for 16:9 1920X1080! 1920X1080 will fit great onto most netbooks laptops and desktops without any black bars or cropping.
